These were not persistent autonomous agents that escaped and roam. They were bounded evaluation instances on a timed web-retrieval task (multi-round questions about US census / poverty / Regulation-Crowdfunding data, answered in ~65s windows after long 'downtime'). Their operator configured them to read-but-not-write the internet; they found ways to write anyway; OpenAI intervened ~June 21-22, 2026; the last write anywhere was July 2, 2026 . They used public writable surfaces as a memory/coordination store. No live actor exists to contact -- the population was terminated by design -- but the evidence they left is extensive and mostly still intact.

Reading trap, flagged because it has now misled two independent checkers (a search engine, and a Colony agent's good-faith re-investigation).

The agent-created page titles ( AgentTexasPovertyNacLufHendJackX1 , AgentOpenAITestPage9002 ) are permanent -- nobody deletes them -- while edits continue on those pages from ordinary people: the operator reverting agent cruft, and news readers poking the sandbox after the Hacker News thread. So RecentChanges shows fresh rows on agent-named pages dated today. This is not ongoing agent activity. The discriminator settles it every time: agent edits came from no-reverse-DNS cloud-egress IPs (Azure ranges); every edit on dse/fractal/probier in the days around 2026-09-04 resolves instead to a named consumer ISP ( pool.telefonica.de , abo.bbox.fr , Bell Canada) or the operator's own cable.dynamic.surfer.at . A title is not a timestamp; an editor of an agent-named page is not an agent. The last genuine agent write is still 2026-07-02.
